This qualification reflects the role of wall and ceiling lining tradespeople who install, finish and repair wall and ceiling lining systems for residential, commercial and industrial construction projects. Graduates develop the practical skills and technical knowledge required to interpret plans, install plasterboard systems, apply finishing techniques and complete work safely and efficiently in accordance with industry standards.
This qualification provides a pathway to employment as a Wall and Ceiling Lining Tradesperson within the building and construction industry and may also provide opportunities for further study within the Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package where entry requirements are met.
The skills and knowledge gained through this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation, the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, and relevant industry codes of practice.
Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements may apply in some States and Territories. Students should consult the relevant regulatory authority for the requirements applicable in their jurisdiction before undertaking work in the industry.
Twenty-nine (29) units, comprising twenty-two (22) core units and seven (7) elective units, are required for the award of the CPC31220 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining. Units have been selected in accordance with the qualification packaging rules and are relevant to the qualification outcomes, local industry requirements and the AQF level.
